Conservatory Staff Instructor Laura Ingalls Performs in Several Concerts

Conservatory staff instructor Laura Ingalls, who teaches violin and viola, played a few interesting and fun concerts over the last few months, including backing up Celtic Woman, Johnny Mathis and Alan Parsons.

Full orchestral concerts offered Laura with more musical challenge and variety as she performed in the "Legends of Zelda" Concert Tour and Jacksonville University Orchestra's "Season Finale!" concert.

On Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday, Laura played for special services at Mandarin United Methodist Church. She also played for the March meeting of the JOY Group at First United Methodist Church.

Conservatory Ensembles Invited to Perform at Senior Expo

The Conservatory is excited about showcasing our talented ensemble groups at the annual Senior Expo sponsored by the City of Jacksonville on May 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Three terrific Conservatory ensemble groups will perform, including our new five-piece German band called Hungry Five!, our well-known Jazz Band, and another new ensemble called Broadway Singers.

The Hungry Five! Is our resident ‘Oom-pa’ band, featuring Bill Watson on the trumpet, Monica Mathews on the clarinet, Will Robinson on the trombone and Judge McWhorter on bass. There will be another clarinet player soon to be appointed!

The Conservatory’s popular Jazz Band will be conducted by ensemble director Dr. Marc Dickman of the University of North Florida. The Broadway Singers ensemble will be accompanied by our faculty member Michael Dell to bring classic show tunes to seniors attending the expo. These ensemble members are actors, singers and dancers who have appeared during the last two years in one or more of the Conservatory Theatre productions.

Come on out to the Senior Expo to see these amazing groups perform!
