Without music, life would be a mistake. — Nietzsche
Performances and Ensembles
In addition to our private music lessons, the Northeast Florida Conservatory offers students, as well as musicians who are not taking regular lessons, the opportunity to enroll in ensemble groups. We regularly have trios, quartets and quintet ensembles consisting of mixed and traditional instrumentation. Because music is not just about practicing, but also performing, all private lesson students and ensemble groups showcase what they've learned in regular student recitals.
Community Band, Orchestra & Jazz Band
At Northeast Florida Conservatory , we not only develop up-and-coming musicians, but also celebrate existing ones by welcoming adults with some instrumental experience to play in our jazz band ("big band"), traditional concert band or orchestra for fun and relaxation. Our concert band focuses on bold marches and inspiring overtures, while our orchestra plays classical symphonic literature. All musicians are welcome to come enjoy the camaraderie of regular rehearsals and share the excitement of performing in community concerts. There is no set fee to join, as a nonprofit, we simply request donations from participants to support this program.
The Northeast Florida Conservatory teaches students of all ages, at all levels, on all instruments. We offer competitively-priced beginner and intermediate private lessons in voice and on every string, brass, percussion, keyboard and woodwind instrument, including more unusual ones such as harp or bagpipes. Advanced students are required to audition for limited position in master classes with our most senior level faculty.
Northeast Florida Conservatory offers many different ways to study music. Areas of study include piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, voice, flute, clarinet, saxophone, drums & percussion and more. Whether it is for formal training or leisure, classes are tailored to meet the specific interests and needs of the students. The curriculum is designed to teach students of all ages with or without musical experience.
In addition to teaching music to our students, as a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization, the Northeast Florida Conservatory also takes great pride in spreading the joy of music through our philanthropic outreach program. Most of our efforts are focused on offering music education, special performances and even private scholarships to underserved children, which we do through LAURA'S FRIENDS. However, we also bring the sounds of our community concert band, jazz band and orchestra to retirement homes as well as perform at wide variety of community events free of charge. We can always use assistance in these endeavors, so when you are choosing nonprofits to support, please consider the Northeast Florida Conservatory as a way you can give the gift of music.
NORTHEAST FLORIDA CONSERVATORY
The Northeast Florida Conservatory offers opportunities for you or your child to experience the wonder of theatre. We provide school-age children acting instruction from professional actors and members of the Jacksonville Theatre Alliance. The theatre program teaches children the basics of drama, music, movement/dance and set design/construction as well as how they unite into a staged production. We also offer intensive summer camps that enable kids to learn these same skills, then display them at an end-of-session performance.
The newest and most exciting addition to our dramatic offerings is true community theatre. We cast and produce at least four Broadway musicals per year. Actors of all ages are encouraged to audition, then hone and present their talents, while the community is invited to come enjoy the production.
